Travel Tips
Travel requirements
Prior to travelling abroad it’s always recommended that you seek
the advice of the Department of Health and your GP. The E111 which allows
eligible travellers free or reduced cost medical treatment has now changed
to an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card). You can apply for your
EHIC* by filling in a form in the ‘ Health Advice for Travellers’ booklet
or by applying online at the Department of Health website. The EHIC
is not mandatory, and in fact our own insurance will cover you anyway.
However you might be saved from paying a large bill while away.
* Please allow up to 21 days for delivery of your EHIC if applying
via post, or 7-10 days if applying via the website.
Passports
A valid passport is mandatory. Information and application forms are
available at main post offices and cost around £51 (£34
for a child). Allow plenty of time for the application process. You
can also apply on-line via the UK Passport Office website. Non-EU passport
holders may need a visa and should contact the relevant embassy. For
further information visit the Foreign
Office website
Travel plans
Please try to arrive on site by 8pm so you have time to unpack and
settle in. If running late, a phone call will ensure the site owner
need not worry unnecessarily and will be expecting you. Contact details
will be provided in your Travel Pack. On arrival at certain sites a
fully refundable cleaning deposit (approx. 20 euros for tents or 50
euros for mobile homes) may be requested. Please see specific campsite
for more details.
Many sites operate a barrier which, in the interests of safety and
peacefulness, may close between around 10pm and 7am. If you arrive
late or need to depart early you may need to leave your car outside
the entrance. In the interests of all, most sites request silence after
around 10pm.
